About Us
Founded in 1998 by several Shoah survivors and their families, the Association of the Children of the Shoah has, since its inception, contributed to the campaign for the approval of the law that established the annual commemoration of Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed each year from 27 January 2001.
The Honorary President is Senator Liliana Segre.
For its national initiatives addressed to the general public and the school system, the Association has received significant recognition from the Presidency of the Italian Republic and from numerous institutional bodies.

Awareness and Remembrance
The many initiatives aimed at raising public awareness—especially among young people—have given the Association a national role and visibility.
A founding member of both the Fondation of the Shoah Museum of Rome and the Shoah Memorial Foundation of Milan, the Association has been awarded the Civic Merit Certificate of the Municipality of Milan and the Isimbardi Award of the Province of Milan. Some of its projects have also received the Presidential Medal of Representation from the Presidency of the Republic.
Since 2022, the Association of the Children of the Shoah APS has been recognised as a Third Sector Organisation.
Education and Training
Among its various initiatives for the wider public and the school system, the Association—working in collaboration with leading national and international historical and research institutions—organises testimonies, travelling exhibitions, professional development seminars for teachers, and educational projects for schools.
Since 2023, the Association has been accredited by the Ministry of Education and Merit as a national training provider under Directive 170/2016 and awards recognised credits for its courses, valid for mandatory professional development requirements.
